疑虐待動物　玲玲馬戲團取消大象表演

美國玲玲馬戲團（Ringling Bros. and Barnum& Bailey Circus）5日宣佈，未來三年逐步取消其招牌大象表演。

「玲玲」執行副總裁費爾特（Alana Feld）表示，觀眾的心態改變，許多人對我們帶着大象四處巡迴感到不自在。費爾特坦言，時移勢易，1967年其父買下馬戲團時，還流行看生鬚美人之類的表演，但不久就被淘汰。費爾特坦言馬戲團也要與時並進。

「玲玲」在佛羅里達州設大象保育設施，29隻象中，有13隻參與表演。設施中最老大象69歲，最年輕2歲。

在一片愛護動物風氣下，靠動物表演攬客的「玲玲」，被指訓練期間虐打動物，表演時要牠們做一些反自然動作，如以後足站立，令「玲玲」備受輿輪壓力。去年紐約愛護動物組織NYCLASS力阻「玲玲」到布魯克林表演。近年，某些城市更立法禁止以大象表演，令「玲玲」更為難。

35年來一直反對「玲玲」大象表演的善待動物組織（PETA），認為「玲玲」應坐言起行，不要再等三年，指牠們的大象有關節炎、結核等病，應即時讓牠們退休。（國際中心／綜合外電報導）
