議事40年美最資深女議員密庫斯基退休

開路先鋒的美國參議員密庫斯基今天宣布，她將退休。她已擔任國會議員40 年，是美國史上議事最久的女議員。

民主黨籍的密庫斯基（Barbara Mikulski）在巴爾的摩召開記者會說，2016年「我不會競選第六任參議員」。

由於共和黨在選舉中贏得參院主導權，密庫斯基被迫在元月間卸任大權在握的撥款委員會主席1職。

如今她離開參院，遺留的馬里蘭州代表議席勢將引起民主黨內一番爭奪。

歐巴馬總統在她宣布不再參選後，讚譽她是參院的「重要人物」。
